Bruce Broughton is born
Begin his career in the early 1970s as a television composer, Bruce Broughton rose to prominence when he was nominated for Best Score in 1985 for the film Silverado. But it was his sentimental and poignant music for "The Boy Who Could Fly" (the most Disney of all non-Disney movies) that caught the attention of Director, Glenn Gordon Caron (most notably the creator of Moonlighting) when he selected Bruce to score his first theme park production — the similarly toned "The Making of Me" film for EPCOT Center's Wonders of Life pavilion. Thus began a long relationship with composing various projects for Walt Disney Imagineering and Epcot in particular where at one time his music could heard at six of its pavilions.

From the epic scope of the esoterically named "Ellen's Energy Crisis" to the jaunty atmosphere of the Imagination Institute (based on his own score for the 1992 film "Honey, I BLEW-UP the Kid") and from the grand arrangments for Spaceship Earth to the pitch-perfect presentation of the 2007 edition of "O Canada", Bruce Broughton has been able to capture the timelessly futuristic tone of Epcot!
