In its original state, the juxtaposition of The Good Turn revolving restaurant and the Farmer’s Market below was as different as night and day (or in this case the Sun and the Moon). Originally, The Good Turn featured a sophisticated interior design of chrome fixtures and dark wood paneling that (unlike today) did not contaminate the ride below with excessive illumination. While the Farmer’s Market couldn’t have been more perfectly titled with its mid-west agrarian food stands and “cobblestone-like” carpets.So why was jazz “on the farm” and country-western playing in a upscale restaurant!? Shouldn’t these two soundscapes be switched?

Recently, some 1983 home movies of a very young EPCOT Center appeared online that confirmed my suspicions. The atmosphere loops for each area began their “cycles” in opposite locations which (I suspect) where changed during the 1993 rehab with “The Sun and the Moon” taking over Sunshine Season’s Food Fair and the “Big Thunder Mountain” style compilation making its way up to The Garden Grill.
